How to Move around Obstacles with Grace and Ease

An acorn sprout knows what it will become, so much so it is willing to move around rocks and other roots that get in it's way. Just like an acorn sprout, you too have an internal knowing of what you will become.

Springtime is associated with the Wood Element and represents Growth, Flexibility, and making choices in the moment for appropriate action.

What about when things do go as you planned?  What about the frustration that has you lose wise judgment?  What then?

I invite you to simply stop in the midst of the frustration.  Take a breath. Imagine that you are floating, ten feet above your body, and compassionately observe yourself. What do you notice from this perspective?  If you are having difficulty shifting into a different perspective than frustration, try one of the 7 tips below and watch those obstacles fall away like magic.

Not Sure About Your Next Steps?

Are the dirt, rocks, and other roots in your life skewing you from seeing your vision and growing towards the light? Are you having a difficult time taking the next steps or even seeing what they are?

What would it be like for you to consistently move through life with confidence, determination, and inspiration?

Are You Stuck in a Decision?

In the Five Element system, the Wood Element is associated with your Liver and Gallbladder organs. On a holistic level, these organs function to create your Vision of where to go next, create the plan to get you there, and make moment-by-moment decisions to keep you moving towards your Vision.

Wise judgment on your part will move you from distress to success as each choice you make influences how you move towards or away from your Vision.

But what about the times when you feel your Wise Judgment has taken a vacation and it is difficult to see where to go next?  Those times when you find yourself feeling stuck, confused, and frustrated…

Ask yourself this:  What is familiar about feeling stuck or confused?  You have probably had this experience before.  Try this:  Become aware of all the sensations in your body. Follow the sensations as they change or don't change. You don't have to do anything about them. All you have to do is notice them.   Do this for 10 minutes and at the end, notice if anything in feels different from when you started.

I'd love to hear how this exercise was for you.  Click here to share your discovery with me.

Spring Cleaning for your Liver  By Darshana Weill- Certified Nutrition Counselor

It's springtime, a time for renewal, blossoming and expanding.

Time to come out of your shell and see what beauty is percolating around you.

It is also a time to rid yourself of stagnant energy that has accumulated during the winter months. In cold months it makes sense to fill up on more food, good quality fats, and to nest at home.

But now it's Spring! The flowers are blooming, the soil is stirring, the birds are singing, and your body wants to feel the same way.

Your Liver and the Gallbladder are the organs that represent Springtime and the Wood Element. Your Liver represents upward energy, lightness and cleansing.

I think of the Liver as the ultimate multitasker. (And as you probably know from personal experience when you over do it and multitask too much you need a break…and so does your Liver!)

Let's take a look at some easy suggestions and recipes you can incorporate into your diet to help cleanse and rest your liver. As a result your Wood Element will be shining from the INSIDE OUT.

The easiest thing to do is add lemon to your water. Drinking water with lemon rids toxins from your body, especially your Liver; it also breaks down winter stagnation.

As I mentioned earlier your Liver represents upward energy. Can you think of a food that embodies this upward movement?

If you guessed greens you were correct.

Greens are the number one food to cleanse your Liver and here is why:

Some of the benefits from eating dark leafy greens are that they:

  • lower cancer risk
  • purify and build blood quality
  • improve immune system function
  • promote healthy intestinal flora
  • improve Liver and Kidney function
  • lift your spirit
  • fight depression
  • clear congestion
  • reduce mucus from all those fatty foods you might have eaten this winter
  • support you in the spring allergy season
  • increase energy
  • help to improve energy circulation and get you going so you can enjoy and experience the beauty of spring and summer

SOME MORE FACTS ABOUT GREENS:

Green plants are among the top nutrient packed foods.

Greens are very high in calcium, 120-190 mg per cup. They're also high in magnesium, iron, potassium, phosphorous, zinc, and a power house for Vitamin A, C, E and K. Greens are also very high in fiber, folic acid, phytochemicals and many, many micronutrients. Chlorophyll, the substance that makes food green has many health benefits. Dark leafy greens are one of the highest sources for chlorophyll. They also provide you with the bitter taste that your Liver loves so much (instead of coffee, beer or chocolate.)

7 Tips for Pushing Through to the Next Level

1. Give yourself praise and reassurance that you can do whatever you desire. Notice your self-limiting talk, otherwise known as your Gremlin, beating you up and telling you that you can't do it. Consciously create internal dialogue that supports you in your magnificence.

2. If you find yourself feeling stuck, get outside for a short time, breathe in the fresh air, feel the ground beneath your feet.  Allowing yourself to be present in the moment is a sure fire way to find new inspiration.  There really is nothing wrong in this moment.

3.  Ask for support.  Trying to do it all alone will not prove anything.  It will only make you tired. Make a list of people who can support you in moving to the next level and then ask them for help.  I promise you, you will be surprised at their response.

4.   Eat whole food.  I know that you know this, but this is a reminder.  The fuel you put in your body is directly responsible for how you feel.  How are you going to be a powerhouse when you keep putting dirty fuel into your body?  If you haven't already done so, I encourage you to check out the RECIPES above and try a new recipe each week.

5.  Spend some time each day with yourself.  Spend enough time that you can be present to your bigger Vision. Create your “to do” list with that Vision in mind.

6.  Prioritize.  Instead of beating yourself up for not completing everything on your “to do” list, choose 7 priorities each day and focus on those. Regardless of what your Gremlin may say, work on your top 7 priorities and everything else you complete is a bonus.

7.  Ask the expert.  Whatever you're doing, there is someone else who has done something like it before you.  Start networking to find the resource person that can help you get to the next level.  Consider what it would be worth to have the experts' knowledge.  Be willing to invest in yourself.

People call me the Ultimate Networker. Chances are, if you get clear on what you need next, I can connect you with a resource that will be useful to you. I really enjoy making appropriate connections.  Please feel free to ask me for what you need next.  I can say with confidence that 90% of the time, I will have a resource for you.  Contact Sharla with your request.
