How to use your Impulses to Spring into Action

The Power of the Wood Element

March 2004
in this issue

Greetings!

It is certainly Springtime. How do you feel the Impulse of Spring?

How can you use this powerful and explosive energy to benefit you?

In this newsletter, I will give you suggestions for how to use the energy of Springtime to maximize your fulfillment.  You might want to print this page to read it at your leisure.

Spring is the time for Change

Do you notice how nature acts during Spring? Everything around you is bursting into life.

What in you is ready to burst?

Springtime is associated with the Wood Element and represents Growth, Expansion, and Creativity.

It is the time to make changes, to give birth to new ideas, to be in action and moving towards your goals.  This is a great time of year to start a new business (see Business Building Tools below) or take on a new career.

What are the big changes that you want to make this Spring?

Spring Cleaning for Your Body

Did you know Spring is the best time to cleanse your body?

In Chinese Medicine, the Liver is responsible for the smooth flow of qi, pronounced "chee," sometimes translated as energy.  If your Liver doesn't get cleansed regularly, toxins build up in your body causing irritatibility and fatigue.

One way to detox your Liver is to take extracts of herbs like Milk Thistle and Dandelion.  Ask about an appropriate Liver detox protocol from your natural health care practitioner or at your local health food store.

Suggestions for making the most out of Spring

1.   Just as there is so much movement in nature, you too need a lot of movement.

So get out there and take a walk in the woods, go for a bike ride, or hike up a

      mountain.

2.   Make a list of things you need to do and do them. The Wood Element in you

wants you to be in action.

3.  Pay attention to when you find yourself feeling frustrated and angry.

Instead of getting caught up in the circumstances, notice the pattern in your life.

What would you see if you climbed upon a mountain and could look down at the

     bigger picture of your life?

Meditate on the Acupoint Wilderness Mound.  If you received this point in an

acupuncture treatment, the experience would be like seeing the mountaintop

     view of your life.

4.   Get a Spring tune up. It is a great idea to get an acupuncture treatment to settle

your spirit and allow you to gently ease into Springtime.

5.   Let your Creativity flourish.  This is the time of year to really express yourself

through whatever means you choose.  Give yourself permission to get really

creative.  Even if your Gremlins think that you can't (check out the Book of the

      Month.)

6. Try something new.  Consider Illustrated Watercolor Journaling as a new

     class to try.

7.  Be a pioneer in some way.  Get out and explore territory you have never explore

     before.

8.  Bonus tip:  Write down your plans and goals.  The Wood Element in you is your

internal planner.  Write your Business Plan.  Write down your big Vision

somewhere where you can see it everyday.  Take Action.
